Rajan T. Gupta, MD, associate professor of Radiology and assistant professor of Surgery, has been appointed the Division Chief of Abdominal Imaging for Duke Radiology.
“I am delighted that Dr. Gupta will take on this leadership position in the department. Over the years, he has been a prolific and productive researcher with close ties to our colleagues in genitourinary oncology and is a nationally recognized expert in prostate MR," said Erik K. Paulson, MD, chair, Duke Radiology. “In addition to working with GU Oncology, Dr. Gupta is a high quality and high-volume abdominal imager and is skilled in all aspects of Abdominal Imaging. He is also a successful teacher and serves as a mentor to fellows and junior faculty.”
Gupta joined the faculty at Duke in 2009 and currently serves as the co-director of the Duke Cancer Institute Center for Prostate & Urologic Cancers, where he oversees and supports emerging imaging modalities and techniques that assist in furthering research and clinical care at DCI. He also directed the Abdominal Imaging Fellowship Program from 2013 to present.
Gupta received his medical degree from the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He completed radiology residency at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and his fellowship at Duke University. As faculty with Duke Radiology, Gupta has held many committee and leadership positions and is currently Director of Duke Radiology’s Continuing Medical Education program. Gupta is the author of multiple articles, which have been published in the American Journal of Roentgenology, Urologic Oncology, and European Urology.
